The French "articles"
An "article" is a small word placed before a noun to indicate whether it is known, unknown, precise or not.
Examples :
le chien, une maison, des amis.
In French, the article is a determiner that introduces the noun and specifies its degree of determination.
It may be definite, indefinite or partitive.
It agrees in gender and number with the noun it accompanies.
1. article défini
Indicates a known, identified or previously mentioned element.
Example : le livre.
2. article indéfini
Indicates an unidentified or unspecified element.
Example : une voiture.
3. article partitif
Expresses an uncountable or undefined quantity.
Example : du pain.
Le chat dort.
J’achète une pomme.
Elle boit du café.
